Easter Egg Hunt -- April 4, 1999
(Posted April 22)

The hunt took place on the lawn and around the shrubs in our yard. It lasted less than five minutes, with Nik and Courtney running around picking up eggs faster than I could chase them to take pictures. The most serious drawback of the current generation of digital cameras was painfully in action -- with a two to three second delay between pushing the shutter button and actual image capture it's impossible to catch action at the instant you'd like. But I was still able to capture some of the excitement of the hunt.

The hunt took place here, and on down to the lake.

The best I could do with Courtney was catch the top of her head
as she whizzed by with her basket. The only thing that slowed her down
was the weight of the basket later, when it was overflowing.

Nik is old enough that he paused for me to catch his face.

He even slowed down enough to show me his basket with eggs.
Lest you think he got short changed compared with Courtney's monster bucket,
I must tell you this is his second basket of eggs. That's why he slowed down
enough for me to take this picture.

Early in the hunt Courtney dropped an egg and it split open.
This is Micki picking up the spilt jelly beans, one by one.

Mary helps Courtney while Micki goes back to picking up jelly beans.

Even Yukon got an Easter basket, but it took him a while to find it.

Yukon's reward was a pig ear, his favorite treat.

After the hunt came the joy of inspecting the haul.

Later, Dave porked out on bread and dip while the last eggs were found.

Mary and Micki breath a sigh of joy and relief after the hunt.
