Lakeside Landscaping in 2011
at the Lindberg Lake Wildwood Resort
Part 6 -- Near-Lake Detail
Work on Friday, May 27, 2011
Mary and I had to go to my post-operation appointment with my cardiologist at 9 a.m. and then pick up some replacement pills which he prescribed. The morning was nearly shot by the time we got back home. Just before we left, a large pile of river rock was delivered and by the time we got home it was almost all in place in the garden.
Brandon loads river rock into the tractor bucket, by hand. |
Another view, with Gary and Nancy Zirelli's newly refurbished home in the background. |
Brandon starts to haul the rock down to the garden site. |
The rock is being used in a swale which will drain the left side of the turf and garden, and provide accent in the garden. |
The
beach area had been filled with new sand and leveled before I could return
home to direct the process. The sand is spread evenly to the top of the lake wall instead of leaving a large part of it at the top where it had been dumped. First thing Tuesday, after Labor Day, I have to get them to drag it back up. By then much of the sand will have been dragged into the lake by waves from the holiday boaters. Oh well, this is just one of the wide-ranging effects of my damn heart attack. |
Alfredo has dug a sharp drop at the edge of the compacted turf area, in preparation for a peeler log wall. |
Completed wall, which will direct
drainage into the rock-covered swale. After the peeler logs were in place, Alfredo filled the trench behind them with concrete. |
Wider view of how the rock swale fits
into the landscaping. The gravel pile will be spread to raise this end of
the turf. The light brown pile is decomposed granite, to be used under the green for a solid, smooth base. |
Status as viewed from the dock. The gravel and decomposed granite piles will be used for the second green. |
Status as viewed from the deck. |
Slightly different angle gives a parting beauty shot. |
