As we were preparing to drive to Sacramento, Courtney looked out toward the lake from our dining room with her cool hat and shades. I couldn't resist taking the shot:

Back to the day in Old Sacramento. From the Railroad Museum we walked directly across the railroad grassy area to Fat City for lunch, followed by a walk along the Sacramento River to see the action.

The family (left table) orders lunch at Fat City.

A water taxi plows along the Sacramento River.

The I Street bridge pivots open for a river boat.

Bridge completely open, Spirit of Sacramento comes toward us.

The Spirit of Sacramento passes by.

Then we returned to the Old Sacramento streets for ice cream cones and to wander the stores. While the rest searched for "good stuff" in a large novelty store I just gawked in wonderment at the tacky stuff. My camera gravitated to some of the tackiest.

Mary, Mickie and Courtney enter the novelty shop.

Classically tacky.

Chic tacky.

Disgusting tacky:
bad taste for its own sake.

Self-made tacky: Mary and yours truly.

Courtney finds a friend and a place to rest.

The Pony Express bids us goodbye
as we leave Old Sacramento.
