Nancy and Gary Zirelli, our neighbors to the east, invited their son Mike's baseball team to stay with them during an exhibition game they played in California. To accomodate the approximately 30 players Nancy got about 10 home owners to each have a few players as guests. We gladly made our lower floor home for 4 players. The team was an exceptional group of highschool seniors as I'll expand later.

They arrived about noon on Wednesday July 16 to enjoy the facilities at our lakefront homes throughout the day and Thursday morning.  Nancy had organized a dinner party for 5:30 Wednesday, to which the team and all the host couples were invited. I snapped the pictures here during the cocktail hour before dinner.

I've posted many of the pictures below in much larger versions so you can zoom in to see more detail, especially pictures with many people in them. You can download these by clicking on the pictures here as indicated in the captions. Larger images mean larger files so be prepared to wait a bit for the downloads. If you don't have a high-speed Internet connection these may not be suitable for you. Try a few to find out.

Mary with Blake Hinman, our neighbor two doors west, three from the Zirellis.

Annette Smith, our wonderful barbecued chicken cook, and her husband.

Two more of our enthusiastic hosts join the cook, Cyndi Mlack on the left and Denise Benevento on the right.

Still more join in.  Nancy is in the blue tank top. She did an outstanding job with the entire affair, as always.
Cyndi on the right made gin and tonics for me all evening -- I trust she made them weak as requested?

The two main hostesses.

Gary with his deep tan also cooked -- he's an outstanding cook.

Gary is the most naturally outgoing and friendly person I know.
Couldn't ask for better neighbors than Gary and Nancy.
Ken Mlack, on the right is husband to the wonderful Cyndi who kept my glass full.

Perfectly barbecued chicken: If this doesn't make you hungry you've been eating too much!.

Meanwhile, two of the home hosts joined some of the team at the Zirelli beach.

Zoomed in.

Kicked back with snacks between fun in the lake.

Bean bag tossing was the most popular activity all day.
Others were putting on the golf greens in our yard and horsing around in the lake.

Here comes a red one right at us.
