Larue is wearing a dress she made for herself. The smiles were part of enduring the worry of Larue's husband being in the Navy on an aircraft carrier somewhere in the Pacific Ocean. Larue was very lonely for Ken and scared to the pit of her stomach for his safety.

Larue's friend Betty Shellenberg took these pictures when she came to borrow Larue's wedding dress.
The so-called professional photographer at Larue's wedding botched the pictures, so these were taken.
