Many of the young people of the Christian Endeavor group married each other. When Dot and Ed moved back from Lansing the group of old friends formed a card club and met once a month at each other's homes during the winter months to play bridge. The club met for many years and Dot and Ed's five children got to know them as older men and women. Although older, they retained their playful nature and kidded each other constantly. The club faded as members died or moved away, for example Bert and Agnes Slack and their four daughters moved to El Paso and Dot and Ed moved to Sun City Arizona during retirement.

At the time Dot and Ed's oldest child, Dorothy, died at only 17 years the card club friends were there for them at the funeral in the parlor of 3149. When Larue married Ken Prate the card club gave them a set of fine crystal goblets. Weddings of all club member's children were gathering times for the card club. It is not often a group of friends stays together as a group very close to each other for such a long time. Theirs were truly enduring friendships and Dot was heartbroken to be so far away from them in Arizona and then California during her final years.
