Dot's sister Anne Slack while on tour with a symphony orchestra in the South.
Could that be the conductor with his baton on the right?

Anne on the left.

This series of pictures were taken in Johnson City, Tenn. while on tour with an orchestra.

Musicians enjoy Southern comfort. Anne probably took the picture.

Anne does some cooking at their tent lodging.

Anne poses near the tent in her orchestra finery.

This was a beautiful pink dress that Anne eventually gave to Larue to play "dress-up." Larue and friends played them to shreds. This was a great family loss. It was a georgette dress trimmed with hundreds of clear beads and silver bagettes. (Larue thinks this is what they were called; they were thin cylindrical beads two to three millimeters long). It is too bad that its historical worth was not recognized by any family member. It was years later that Anne gave her tour clothes and costumes to Larue. (More on Anne's beautiful concert costumes following two pictures below).

Anne wearing "civilian clothes."

One of Anne's co-performers in a performance costume.

This is a Czechoslovakian costume, with a lace cap, lace and cotton batiste blouse with embroidery, black velvet waist cinch with stays, white batiste or similar material apron trimmed with lace, and red satin skirt with wide bands of contrasting color satin and embroidery around the hem. It was very elaborate and authentic. Anne's costume like it was one of the things Larue and friends played dress-up in until it was in rags. Very sad to lose such treasures.

Dot cut and pasted these "captions" from a publication about the group.

Definitely a large group: new people in every picture.
