Part 19 -- Partial Driveway Cleanup by Rare Earth

Pictures taken August 2, 2011

After several complaining phone calls from Tony and Tom, two fellows from Rare Earth came out to clean the driveway. On their first visit they cleaned the most grievous stain near the bottom where the decomposed granite pile had been. They used a hose and a stiff broom and did a reasonable job only on the first and second concrete sections in the picture below. When they left my dial-a-flow hose nozzle was nowhere to be seen and I've never seen it again, even though I called to tell them it was missing.

Tony and Tom called several times more about remaining stains and two fellows came out again the last week in July. This time they had a pressure washer but no broom. This page describes the status a few days later when I had time to take more photos.

This is the oil spill shortly after it was made by overfilled brake fluid (I'm told) in the Rare Earth truck.

View this photo from bottom to top. The heavy stain at the concrete section "crack" is between the first and second sections that had been badly stained. You can see that the stain on the second section has been greatly reduced, but very noticeable stains remain above it.

A closer view of the first and second stain sections. The heavy stain at the crack helps relate this to the previous photo.

This second stain section is cleaned as well as can be done -- dirty oil is very difficult to remove.

Cleaning farther up the driveway was hit and miss. Stains on both sides of this crack are still quite bad.

Above the next crack the pressure washing job has very noticeable horizontal streaking -- they were anxious to go.

Serious stains remain around the next section crack.

Same problems at the next section crack.

As you progress farther up the driveway there are similar but decreasing stain problems, but the accumulation of ground in dirt droppings increases. I guess I'll have to get my own pressure washer out to get rid of these messes.
