Lakeside Landscaping in 2011
at the Lindberg Lake Wildwood Resort
Part 4 -- Spread Soil, Miscellaneous Preparations
Work on Tuesday, May 24, 2011
Alfredo (orange shirt) and helper dig old soil away from dry rot at base of lakeside box. |
Tony drops soil into the planting area below the patio. |
Dry rot at base of box. |
Closer view |
Rot on other side is only at rear corner. |
New retaining area to keep soil off the towel box. |
Extensive pile of soil in lakefront planting area. |
Soil delivered so far into the planting area next to the house. |
Planting soil on the other side of the walkway from house to beach. |
Alfredo scrapes grass sod to remove old lawn. |
Alfredo also plows forward to remove sod... |
...and dumps a bucketful onto already-stripped ground. |
Sod around the edges is removed by pick and shovel. |
Second of two truckloads of gravel for the artificial turf base, dumped on our driveway. |
Meanwhile, the tractor-dumped planting soil is spread to about 6 to 8-inch thickness. |
Tom (green shirt) has sketched out
the putting green boundary on the left-side lawn. This green will be as
level as possible. The second green, on the right-side lawn, will be sloped about the same as the old lawn. There will be 3 holes on each green. |
Alfredo spreads soil in near-house planting area. |
The new soil level is higher than the
existing septic tank cover. Rocks have been placed around it to avoid dry rot. (I'll have to watch this job closely, to ensure enough separation and slope to keep standing water out.) |
